Quick Thought about Swearing
Have you ever wondered why people tell you not to say bad words?
Well, if you have I have a little story for you. Or maybe it’s not so little.:):):):):):)XDXDXDXDX
So I live in a neighborhood with a lot of neighbors. Once my friends and I were just having some fun outside and there was some kid (let’s pretend his name is Liam) that kept passing us on a longboard. One of my friends had brought her little brother outside and he kept waving to Liam, so Liam was waving back.
Long story short, we met up ‘cuz my other friend waved back thinking that he was waving to her. We found out that he was staying at his Aunt’s down the street. So he hung out with us while he was staying here. But I noticed a problem pretty quickly. Can you guess what it was??? Yup, he was swearing a LOOOOOOOOOT!
At first, I just brushed it off but the more he hung out, the more I realized he was a really BAD influence. He was using bad language not just bad words and trying to make me say a bad word. That was one of the last signs I needed to tell me that this was not a good kid to be around.
I obviously told him NOOOOOO, but then I randomly found a few verses that cleared it up. Matthew 5:34-48 is a good verse to look at whenever you feel pushed to say something. You will realize that you are doing it for Jesus!!! It says
“But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: Nor by the earth; for it is His footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay; for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” (Matthew 5:34 – 48 KJV)
So you can go ahead and read all the verses in that chapter but these are the ones that caught my eye. But what it means is don’t swear because it dishonors God and because just ‘cuz you swear it doesn’t mean it will happen. And it says make your yes, yes and your no, no so that they can be accountable and so that you don’t have to dishonor God just for people to believe you. And swearing goes directly against what the Bible says.
That took longer than I had hoped for, but I needed to get it out for those searching for answers or you might have randomly found this and it was just like I found these verses.
So Long, Folks!!!!!!!!!!!!! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
